Our goal is to, hopefully, eliminate pain and, if not, allow patients to continue to live their lives as productively as possible.

Our Goals

  • Decrease the intensity of pain

  • Patient directed therapies
  • Patient empowerment
  • Understand pain
  • Increased physical activity

Diagnosing Pain
Pain is a symptom. To treat this symptom, an accurate diagnosis of what is causing the pain must first be made. Often, multiple diagnoses may occur. It is important that our patients develop an understanding of their medical problem and the treatments called for in order for them to return to work and to their lives.

There are many tools used to help make an accurate diagnosis.

  • Patient history
  • Diskography
  • Physical exam
  • Diagnostic nerve blocks
  • X-Rays
  • EMG
  • MRI
  • Laboratory tests
  • CT, myelogram, bone scans
  • Medication trials

An accurate diagnosis enables patients to understand more about their pain. Treatments will vary and the patient’s ability to communicate about the pain is important. There are common conditions that can be treated when an accurate diagnosis is made.
